Adam “Adamo” Orsatti
1917–2012

Born in 1917, Adam Orsatti was the oldest son of first generation Italian immigrants, Luigi and Luisa Orsatti. Adam was from a family of four children. His oldest sister Jennie was born in Italy. Adam and his older sister, Eva, along with his youngest brother, Gino, were all born in Chicago. To his family, Adam was known as "Damo", short for Adamo, or Adam in Italian.

Adam lived his entire life in Chicago. He completed a short stint in the Army during WWII. He took pride in being a very active and independent person. Up until the last year of his life, he lived in a second floor condo with no elevator on the northwest side of Chicago. Adam loved to walk for exercise and would regularly walk through the neighborhood to do his shopping.

Adam was an active member of a Catholic Social Club and he loved to do ballroom dancing. He also traveled routinely including a trip to England where he competed in an international dance competition. Adam enjoyed helping others in his community and socializing at community events. Although he did not have children of his own, he remained active in the lives of his nieces and nephews.

During the last year of his life he moved into a nursing home due to health issues. It was difficult for Adam because he could not be as independent as he was used to living. During that time, he had developed kidney disease. Adam decided to help others with renal diseases by leaving a charitable bequest to the Urology Care Foundation. Adam’s contribution will go a long way in ensuring the future of urologic health.
